The programmed walks are designed to offer a good mix of coastal and inland scenery, so that you too can discover the huge welcoming heart of the Algarve.
This tour is based in Carvoeiro, a picturesque Portuguese resort town that is set amidst a stunning coastline, and makes for a fantastic holiday destination.
Carvoeiro has so much to offer, including pristine beaches, a traditional Portuguese ambience and an extensive selection of restaurants and bars.
The glorious beaches, cliffs and coves were a magnet for the early visitors who began coming in the early sixties, building their charming villas which can still be seen today.
Carvoeiro is ideally placed to enable us to explore this fascinating part of the Algarve.
The wonderful coastline of cliffs, caves and grottos, amazing for hiking, kayaking or a more relaxed boat tour. Carvoeiro is a walker’s paradise with numerous hiking routes and trails that follow the rolling inland hills and spectacular coastline.
Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival to Faro and transfer to Carvoeiro
Individual arrival to Faro Airport / Faro Train Station / Faro Bus Station.
Transfer to Carvoeiro Sol Hotel in Carvoeiro. Transfer time +/- 1 hour.
DAY 2
Armação Carvoeiro Walk
A fascinating walk between two popular resorts giving us insights into the rural villa culture of this region.
Our gentle tracks and quiet lanes take us through the sleepy rural countryside dotted with fields and trees and pass villas large and small where people from all over the world have made their home.
Distance: 11.5km
Ascent/descent: +/-100m
DAY 3
Ferragudo
From Ferragudo we follow a stunning coastline westwards to Portimão and the stunning Praia da Rocha.
This area is famous for its exclusive and elaborate villas. Our walk along this spectacular coastline lets us see why. Take time during the walk to visit Ferragudo one of the most attractive and popular villages of the area.

DAY 4
Armação de Pêra - Lagoa
This imaginatively designed walk in the rolling hillsides just inland from Carvoeiro enables us to visit and appreciate an area hidden from normal tourism, giving us an insight into the traditional Algarvian way of life as we walk through ancient farmland, smallholdings, orange orchards and the “dry” orchards so typical of this area, to finish in the attractive town of Lagoa.

DAY 5
Free day
This is an ideal opportunity to relax and enjoy the attractions of the Algarve. You can walk/tour independently, or visit local places of interest. From Lagos there is a widevariety of sightseeing available - check here some activities to prebook. Keen bird-watchers may wish to visit Sagres to the West, or the Ria Formosa, in the East Algarve.
DAY 6
Lagoa - Carvoeiro
We begin our walk in Lagoa, the centre of the viticulture of the region.
We walk south through the quiet, fertile, Barrocal landscape dotted with fields and smallholdings and watch our surroundings evolve as we near the coast and Carvoeiro into a landscape of beautiful villas set in gardens bedecked with flowers.

DAY 7
Seven Valleys
Today we offer a fantastic coastal walk taking in one of the most famous and dramatic sections of the Algarve coastline. Towering cliffs, sea caves and grottos, superb sandy coves and spectacular headlands including the much photographed Benagil domed caveslined with beautiful sandstone strata.
All this can be seen during this stunning walk to finish along Carvoeiro’s renowned elevated boardwalk.

DAY 8

At convenient time, departure to Faro Airport / Faro Train station / Faro Bus station.
The Hotel
Hotel Carvoeiro Sol ***
The informal Hotel Carvoeiro Sol is located overlooking the local square of Carvoeiro, a typical Algarvean village. Within walking distance of shops, restaurants and entertainment and yet only 50 metres from the beach. The outdoor pool features a sun terrace with sun loungers and a bar.
All rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, satellite TV, air conditioning, central heating and tea / coffee making facilities.
The Jardim Sol Restaurant in Carvoeiro serves a rich buffet breakfast in the morning with a variety of hot and cold dishes. Guests can enjoy light snacks on the poolside terrace.
